The Development and Origin of TCM
TCM, with a long history, has experienced a long term practical process in its discovery and application.In ancient time, our ancestor learned that some plants and animals had medical effect, in the activities of collecting food and hunting, and with numerous trials and observations, our ancestor gradually accumulated some knowledge on how to use herbs. In Tan Dynasty, Li Ji, Su Jin and other scholars compiled the earliest meical Works, Newly Compiled Materia Medica of Tang (The Tang materia Medica), and it's earlier over 800 years than Nuremberg Pharmacopeia of 1542, making a great contribution to medical development. Although, the modern medicine is very developed, TCM is still developing quickly, because of its quiet medical effect and slight side-effect. TCM theory is quite different compared with western medical theory, for instance, while treating the patients, the TCM practitioners will diagnose the patient's symptoms and signs in the ways of considering human body as a sigle whole. With the development of productivity, the modern scientific research method and theory i.e. animal experiments, histopathology observation and active ingredient analysis of medicine, have been adopted in TCM study. Occurence of new dosage forms i.e.tablet, capsule, syrup and extractum liquid, have changed the people's traditional concepts that TCM tastes not good, and it is very convenient for peoples to take TCM.
