    Famous Herbalist Doctor of China

Lu Weibo, male, born in Shanghai on Oct. 18, 1928.
He is a professor, doctor-in-chief and the director
of the Research Department of AIDS of China
Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
He graduated from Tonji Medical University in February, 1955 majoring in western medicine. In 1958, he accomplished the training course of traditional Chinese medicine that was the first session for western doctor to learn traditional Chinese medicine at full time, sponsored / held by the Ministry of Health and then he worked in the central laboratory and the section of medical science and research of the Xiyuan Hospital affiliated to China Academy of TCM, Basic Theory Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Chinese Association of the Integration of Traditional Medicine with Western Medicine.

He was appointed as a leader of the TCM expert group treating patients with AIDS in Tanzania during 1988-1991 and totally 30 expers from seven groups were dispatched by our government there early or late, treating more than ten thousands AIDS patients and collecting 437 integrated cases for scientific research.

Prof. Weibo Lu used to be a member of the AIDS Expert Committe, Ministry of Health and director and advisor of Chinese Association of the Prevention and Cure of Venereal Disease and AIDS. He has ever published many papers and literatures such as " Prevention and cure of AIDS in the view of combination of Chinese medicine and western medicine", "Proceedings on curing AIDS through TCM" (volume 1), "Cure of AIDS through TCM" (in Franch), "Hope of AIDS patients" (volume 2) and "the Report on changing positive serum antibody into the negative in eight cases" (published in Chinese medical journal, English version) etc.. Besides that, he attended many conferences on AIDS abroad, that is to say San Francisco, Vancouver, Berlin, Marseilles, Geneva, Amsterdam, Yokohama, Chiengmai. And on invitation, he gave a lecture in Los Angeles at one time.

He not only pays an attention to antivirus of AIDS but also emphasizes raising immunity with regard to the whole functional state of AIDS patient, academically. He demonstrated the importance of the immunity from the hyperimmune state of the patients who has been improved from positive serum antibody to the negative. He has firstly discovered that the blood stasis is the main manifestation of AIDS patient and approved this himself through administering the recipes of promoting blood circulation to dispel blood stasis. At first he has pointed out that the differentiation and identification of AIDS in the eye of traditional Chinese medicine should be focused on "Lung" and "Spleen". He considers that AIDS took deficiency as a lead being mixed up with deficiency and excess syndrome. So he suggested that all the miscellaneous symptoms of AIDS should get explained from comparing vital-qi with evil energy and the recipes of clearing away heat and toxic material should be as a main anti-virus medicine. Of course, the recipes that can promote blood circulation and dispel blood stasis and/or strengthen the body resistance and consolidate the constitution, possess the anti-virus function, too but the action is weaker.

The prizes of " Xiaoxijiang '1991" of Whole World AIDS Foundation and "Precursor '1999" together with "Advanced group '1999" co-issued by Ministry of Health, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Education and General Bureau of Broadcasting and Television were rewarded to him for his successful work on AIDS treatment and prevention in the eye of traditional Chinese medicine.

Prof. Lu is well up in English and German. Now he holds the post of Chinese Journal of Integrating TCM with Western Medicine, English version as a deputy editor-in-chief.
