Honeysuckle Flower

| Constituents: |
Honeysuckle Flower contains
volatile oil with more than 30 constituents,
also contains flavones, such as luteolin, iso-
chlorogenic acid, chlorogenic acid, etc..

| Pharmacology Actions: |
In vitro, both the
flower and vine inhibited many kinds of patho-
genic organisms. Intraperitoneal injection of
its extract inhibited carrageenin-induced paw
swelling. The diluted decoction promoted leuko-
cytic phagocytosis. Besides it also had antili-
pemic effect and showed significant cytotoxic
activity against sarcoma 180 and Ehrlich asci-
tic carcinoma. The LD50 of its extract was
53g/kg SC in mice.

| Actions and Indications: |
Honeysuckle Flower is
used as antifebrile, detoxicant; for the treat-
ment of carbuncles, boils, esysipelas, acute dy-
sentery, upper respiratory infection, epidemic
febrile diseases. Honeysuckle Stem is used as
febrifuge, antidote, antirheumatic; for the
treatment of epidemic febrile diseases, acute
dysentery, carbuncles, sores, acute arthritis
with swelling and pain of the joint.
