Seeds contain sterol,gliadin, volatile oil,tannin
and fatty oils consisting of stearic acid, oleic acid,
linoleic acid.

It inhibited and was lethal to hookworm. The 5%
decoction was lethal to Schistosome larvae after
2 hours. In clinic, it showed certain therapeutic
effect on hookworm and filarae diseases.

It is used as parasiticide, clearing away dryness.
It is used for stomachache caused by ascariasis,
infantile malnutrition, cough due to pathogenic
dryness, constipation and hemorrhoid.
