| Constituents: |
Pagodatree Flower contains rutin,
sophorin A, sophor B, sophorin C, also contains
quercetin, betulin, sophoradiole, etc.. Japanese
Pagodatree Pod contains genistein, sophorico-
side, sophorabioside, sophonin, kaempferol
glycoside-c, sophoraflavonoside, rutin, etc..

| Pharmacology Actions: |
Rutin and quercetin
could sustain the normal resistance of blood
capillary and decreased its permeability. They
also inhibited the paw swelling induced by his-
tamine,egg white etc.in rats and hyaluronidase-
induced foot swelling. Rutin significantly in-
hibited the traumatic swelling in roots and
prevented the development of conjunctivitis,
auricle inflammation, pulmonary edema.Quercetin
could decrease the tension of intestinal and
bronchial smooth muscles, and its antispastic
action was 5 times stronger than that of rutin.
Its liquid showed weak excitation action on the
isolated frog heart and blocking action on
transmission system of the heart. It had hypo-
tensive action as well. Quercetin exhibited
preventive and curative effect on experimental
atherosclerosis. The extract injection of the
fruit in rabbits after 1 hour showed hypergly-
cemic effect only for short period and anti-
bacterial effect as well. Genistein and kaemp-
ferol showed anti-implantation and anti-early
pregnancy action. The phytohemagglutinin
contained in the fruit enhanced lymphocyte
blastogenesis.

| Actions and Indications: |
Pagodatree Flower is used as
hemostatic, and quenching excess fire in the
liver; for the treatment of hematochezia,
hemorrhoidal bleeding, dysentery with blood
stools, abnormal uterine bleeding, hematemesis,
epistaxis, headache and dizziness. Japanese
Pagodatree Pod is used as antifebrile, blood-
cooling agent, hemostatic, for the treatment of
hematochezia, hemorrhoidal bleeding, headache,
dizziness.
