| Constituents: |
The leaf contains aucubin, catapol, baicalein,
scutellarein, chlorogenic acid, neochlorogenic
acid; the seed contains plantenolic acid, suc-
cinic acid, adenine and choline.

| Pharmacology Actions: |
1.The pectin powder from its aqueous extract
could lower index of gastric ulcer 95%; promote
the secretion of gastric juice of dogs, reduce
the range of the intestinal constriction on rab-
bit, and show anti-spasm effect on BaCl2-induced
and histamine-induced spasm, reduce inflammatory
edema induced by formaldelyda or dextran.
2.Its aqueous extract of leaves (1.5-3.0 g/gay)
showed anti-ulcer effect.
3. Its aqueous extract showed inhibitory action
against many skin fungi.
4.Its seeds can enhance the secretion of tra-
chea and bronchi, breathe slowly and deeply,
while exhibited expectorant effect and antitu-
ssive effect.
5.Injected the decoction of the seed into rab-
bits articulatio tibia, first happen synovitis,
then connective tissue proliferation, so had
possibility in flaccid articulation restored to
the former tense.

Both Rippleseed Plantain Herb and Rippleseed
Plantain Seed are used to clear away heat, in-
duce diuresis, remove heat in the liver, promote
the acuity of vision, stop cough, eliminate ex-
pectoration, for the treatment of stranguria,
oliguria, diarrhea caused by summer-damp,infla-
mmation of eye, cough with copious sputum,acute
tonsillitis, scrofula.
