The seed contains fatty oil inclu-
ding parinaric acid, balsaminasterol,¦Á-spina-
sterol, and ¦Â-sitosterol, and also contains
glycosides, volatile oil, proteins, amino
acids, etc..

| Pharmacology Actions: |
Its decoction,tincture
and aqueous extract produced excitatory actions
on isolated rabbit and guinea pig uteri as well
as on anesthetized in situ rabbit uteri. The
aqueous extract showed different degrees of
inhibitory actions against Staphylococcus
aureus, Streptococcus hemolyticus, Pseudomonas
aeruginosa, Shigella flexneri, Shigella sonnei,
Salmonella typhi. It also showed antifertility
action.

The drug is used to
cause subsidence of nodulation; for the treat-
ment of mass and nodulation in abdomen,
amenorrhea, belching.
