| Pharmacology Actions: |
Pelletierine from the
root bark was lethal to tapeworms. In vitro
studies showed significant inhibitory action
against many pathogens including some fungi.
The decoction showed antiviral effect even
diluted to 1:10000-1:100000.The fruit peel pow-
der could reduce the pregnancy rate in female
rats and guinea pigs. Intragastric administra-
tion of the aqueous extract of the root bark in
rabbits promoted blood coagulation.The oil from
acid fruit showed estrogen-like action on adult
cophorectomized female mice or infant female
mice by injection.
