| Pharmacology Actions: |
The ethanol extract of
thedried fruit proved to have marked inhibitory
action on isolated rat intestines, so did it on
in vivo cat intestines. It also showed marked
anti-spasm effect on acetylcholine-induced duo-
denum spasm in rabbits. Intravenous injection
in cats also inhibited heart and showed hypo-
tensive effect. The ethanol infusion at high
concentration quickly released the tension
increase in stomach and gallbladder induced by
carbachol by way of intravenous injection .

The drug is used as
carminative and analgesic; for the treatment of
distention and pain in chest and abdomen,
anorexia, vomiting.
