The drug contains volatile oil
consisting of evodene, ocimene, evodine,evodol,
goshyuic acid, etc., and also contains alka-
loids including evodiamine, rutaecarpine hydro-
xyevodiamine, evocarpine, wuchuyine, N-methy-
lanthranylamide,N.N-dimethyl-5-methoxytrptamine,
synephrine, evodinone, etc..

| Pharmacology Actions: |
It showed excitatory
action at low dose while inhibitory action at
high dose on intestines of experimental ani-
mals. The decoction and the filtrate showed
marked hypotensive effect. The aqueous ethanol
extract showed inhibitory action on isolated
rabbit fibremia.

| Actions and Indications: |
The drug is used as
analgesic, antiemetic, antidiarrheal and cold
dispelling agent;for the treatment of abdominal
colic, abdominal pain during menstruation,
vomiting and acid regurgitation,diarrhea,hyper-
tension; external use for ulcers in the mouth.
