The drug contains arctiin, arc-
tenin, fatty oil, traces of alkaloids, steroid,
vitamin A, B, etc..

| Pharmacology Actions: |
In vitro, the aqueous
extract (1:2) showed different degrees of inhi-
bitory actions against various pathogenic
fungi.Its extract was proved to have marked and
prolonged hypoglycemic action on rats. Arctiin
caused tonic convulsion in frogs, mice and rab-
bits. It exhibited paralytic effect on isolated
rabbits uteri and intestines. It also showed
transient hypotensive action.

The drug is used as
antis-welling agent, antidote; for the treat-
ment of cough and expectoration in influenza
or upper respiratory infection, measles,rubella,
sore throat,mumps,erysipelas,carbuncles and sores.
