The drug contains about 1.2% of
anthraquinone derivatives, viz., emodin, phy-
scion, aloe-emodin,chrysophanol,obtusin, rhein.

| Pharmacology Actions: |
The aqueous or
ethanol extract showed hypotensive action. The
seed could inhibit the increase of blood serum
cholesterol and the formation of arterial
atherosclerosis spots. The ethanol extract and
decoction also showed inhibitory action against
fungous infection of skin.

| Actions and Indications: |
The drug is used as
antifebrile and emollient; for the treatment of
inflammation of eye,headache,dizziness, blurred
vision, and constipation.
