| Constituents: |
The kernel contains volatile oil, fatty oil,
protein, etc. The volatile oil contains myris-
ticin, ¦Â-pinene, sabinene, camphene, methyl
eugenol, isoeugenol, ¦Á-pinene, elemicin, ¦Á-
thujene, dipentene, geranial, etc. The main
components of the fatty oil are myristin (solid)
and glyceride oleate.

| Pharmacology Actions: |
1. Myristicina and elemicin had moderate exci-
tatory action on human barain and hallucinogenis
effect on normal humans.
2. Small dose of its volatile oil could promote
the secretion of gastric juice and gastrointes-
tihal peristalsis,hence had appetile-stimulating,
repellent and analgesic effects, while large dose
showed inhibitory action.
3. It had significant anaesthetic effect, while
large dose may lead to toxic symptoms.

| Actions and Indications: |
It is used to warm the middle-Jiao, relieve dia-
rrhea and promote the flow of Qi, for the treat-
ment of chronic diarrhea due to cold of insuffi-
ciency type,pain due to cold in abdomen,anorexia.
