The drug contains triterpenes,
oleanolic acid, ursolic acid, rutin,hyperoside,
caffeic acid, and also contains volatile oils,
cyanidin, delphindin, prunelin, etc..

| Pharmacology Actions: |
Its extract produced
hypotensive effect in anaesthetized animals and
so did its decoction but with tachyphylaxis.
The tests proved that the stem, leaf, fruit
spike and the whole plant had hypotensive acti-
vity with the fruit spike the least potent. In
vitro studies showed that its decoction inhi-
bited the common pathogens to different ex-
tents. Daily injection of the 100% decoction to
mice 0.4-0.6 ml/animal SC for 2 weeks inhibited
Ehrlich ascites carcinoma and sarcoma 180 but
with high death rate, showing no clinical
value.

| Actions and Indications: |
The drug is used as
antifebrile, antioncotic; for the treatment of
headache and dizziness, inflammation of the
eye, scrofula, goiter, mastitis and mastocar-
cinoma, hypertension.
