Andrographis Herb contains
andrographolide, neoandrographolide, 14-deoxy-
11-oxoandrogrpholide, 14-deoxy-11, 12-didehy-
droandrographolide, 14-deoxandrographolide,
andrographoside, 14-deoxy-andrographoside.

| Pharmacology Actions: |
Both andrographolide
and neoandrographolide delayed and modulated
the rise in body temperature in rabbits,showing
its antipyretic effect. Its decoction increased
leukocytic phagocytosis of Staphylococcus
aureus in vitro.Oral administration of the herb
to patients with tumor or other afflictions
augmented the delayed cutaneous hypersensiti-
vity to not quite fresh tuberculin. Neoandro-
qrapholide showed superior therapeutic effect
on bacterial dysentery to that of chloromycetin
and furazolidone and caused neither side nor
toxic effects. 14-deoxy-11-oxoandrographolide
showed significant sedative effect. It also
exhibited anti-inflammation effect.

The drug is used as
febrifuge, detoxicant, antiinflammatory agent;
for the treatment of acute bacillary dysentery,
enteritis, pneumonitis,tonsillitis,pharyngitis,
bronchitis, cholecystitis, genitourinary tract
infection, cold, epidemic encephalitis B,
pertussis, pulmonary tuberculosis, carbuncles
and sores, snake bite, wound infection.
