The drug contains menthyl acetate,
camphene, limonene, isomenthone, pinene,
menthenone,it also contains amino acids,resins,
tannins, rosmarinic.

| Pharmacology Actions: |
Both menthol and men-
thone are irritating to the skin. Anti-inflam-
matory and analgesic effects were produced by
local application of compound prescription of
menthol. The oral administration in small
amounts dilated the cutaneous capillary ves-
sels through stimulation of the CNS. This
effect promotes perspiration and heat dissi-
pation, thus producing diaphoretic and antipy-
retic effects.Its decoction was proved to have
antibacterial and antiviral effects and
anthelmintic effect as well on experimented
animals. Inhalation of menthol vapor 81mg/kg
increased mucous secretion from the respira-
tory tract and decreased its specific gravity
in urethane-anesthetized rabbits. Its oil had
a spasmolytic effect on the isolated intesti-
nal muscle of mice and a stomachic effect. It
may terminate early-pregnancy in mice. Azulen
exhibited an anti-inflammatory effect on burns
of rabbit ears. In vitro the infusion on of
this herb inhibited human cervical cancer JTC-
26 strain.

The drug is used to
remove wind-heat from the head and eyes, and
to promote eruption; for the treatment of cold,
headache, inflammation of eye, sore throat, the
itching skins, rubella measles, ulcers in the
mouth, toothache.
