| Pharmacology Actions: |
Effect on temperature regulation; herba cum Radice Asari (xi xine) has shown an antipyretic effect in experiments on animals. When the essential oils of the herb were mixed with gum arabic and given orally to rabbits, both those with normal temperatures and those with artificially induced fevers showed a reduction in body temperature.
Anesthetic effect: produces a local anesthetic effect when injected locally. When thhe essential oils of herba cum Radice Asari(xi xin) were given to rabbits in a dose of 0.5ml/kg, there was an analgesic effect to electrical stimulation of tooth pulp equal to that of antipyrine.
Antibiotic effect: According to preliminary reports, herba cum Radice Asari(xi xin) has an inhibitory effect in vitro against hemolytic Streptococcus, Shigella, and Salmonella typhi.
Treatment of oral lesions: A paste composed of ground Herba cum Radice Asari (xi xin) mixed with water and glycerin, when placed on the navel for at least three days, hastened the relief of pain and healing of the lesions of aphthous mouth ulcers.

Disperse cold and alleviates pain: for pain in various parts of the body, most commonly headache, toothache, or painful obstruction, due to wind and/or cold.
Disperses and unblocks the qi of the nasal orifices: for various types of nasal congestion.
