Plantain Herb contains sucubin,
ursolic acid, etc.. Plantain Seed contains
plantenolic acid, succinic acid, adenine, plan-
tasan, and fatty oils , etc..

| Pharmacology Actions: |
The Plantago Seed
increased intratracheal and endobronchial mu-
cous secretion, causing deep and slow respira-
tion.It had expectorant and antitussive action.
Multiple injections of a small dose of the seed
decoction into the synovial cavity of the knee-
joint of rabbits caused synovitis, followed by
hyperplasia of the connective tissues and inc-
reased tension of the articular capsule. In
clinic, it is used for temporomandibular joint
subluxation.

| Actions and Indications: |
The Plantain Herb is
used as antipyretic, antidote, diuretic, expecto-
rant; for the treatment of edema with oliguria,
urinary infection with difficult painful urina-
tion,diarrhea,cough caused by phelm-heat,spitting
of blood, epistaxis, carbuncles and sores. The
Plantain Seed is used as antipyretic, diuretic,
clearing eye agent,expectorant;for the treatment
of edema, dysuria with difficult painful urina-
tion, inflammation of the eye, cough caused by
phelm-heat.
