| Pharmacology Actions: |
The decoction had a
diuretic effect in rats, rabbits, anesthetized
and unanesthetized dogs. It also showed marked
stimulant effect on intestines which could be
antagonized by diphenhydramine and papaverine.
Its spike decoction had a pronounced inhibitory
effect on isolated frog and rabbit hearts. In
vitro studies showed that the 10% decoction
directly killed the parasites in 8-12 minutes.

The drug is used as
antipyretic, diuretic, blood activator, anti-
swelling agent; for the treatment of urinary
infection, menorrhea, oliguria, carbuncles and
sores.
