The drug contains qinhaosu,
arteannuin I and II, qinhaosu I, II, III, IV,
and V, qinhao acid, artemisinol, palmitic acid,
coumarin, scopoletin, 3,5-dihydroxy-6,7,3',4'-
tetra-methoxylavonol, artemisia ketone, iso-
artemisia ketone, etc..

| Pharmacology Actions: |
The neutral fraction of
the ether extract and the dilute alcohol ex-
tract exhibited a significant antimalarial
action on experimental animals and on man. The
only drawback was its high relapse rate.Its oil
preparation was efficacious against schitoso-
miasis in mice and the parasite reduction rat
was 37.7-40.9%. Artemisin and its honey pill
and infusion tablets showed definite thera-
peutic effect on lupus erythematosus discoides.
It slowed down heart rate, inhibited cardiac
contractility and decreased coronary flow. It
had a synergistic pyretic action with Lonicera
japonica.It also showed significant therapeutic
effect against experimental silicosis. It did
not increase the tolerance of mice to hypoxia.

The drug is used as
febrifuge, detoxicant, antimalarial; for the
treatment of fever, malaria with chills and
fever, amoebic dysentery, jaundice, itching.
