The drug contains volatile oils,
such as d-menthone, 1-pulegone, d-limonene,
schizonepetoside A and B.

| Pharmacology Actions: |
In vitro studies proved
that the decoction showed a strong activity
against Staphylococcus aureus and Corynebac-
terium diphtheriae. The tests also showed that
the crude herb did not significantly shortened
the bleeding time in mice, whereas the charred
herb shortened it by 72.6%; the former shor-
tened the coagulation time by 30%, the latter
by 77.7%, suggesting only the stir-fried herb
had hemostatic action. In vitro, it exhibited a
weak inhibitory action on cancer cells.The LD50
of its decoction to mice for 7 days was 30046¡À
76.5 mg/kg IP.

The drug is used as
diaphoratic, wind dispelling agent; for the
treatment of common cold, headache,sore throat,
measles with inadequate eruption and other
eruption febrile disease, sore at the early
stage, apoplexy, carbuncles.
