| Constituents: |
White Mulberry root bark contains
flavonoids including morusin, cyclomorusin,
compound A, oxydihydromorusin, morudinol,
kuwanon A-D, mouachalcone A, morudenin, A, B;
flavanones including sanggenone A-N; also con-
tains mulberrofuran A-I, Pelargonidin-3-
glucoside, petunidin-3-rutinoside, as well as
5,7-dihydrochromone,alcohols, esters, lactones,
volatile oils, etc.. Mulberry Fruit contains
rutin, vitamin A, B, C, protein, fatty oil,
volatile oil, tannin, etc.. Mulberry Leaf con-
tains astragalin, quercetin, vitamin A,B,C.

| Pharmacology Actions: |
In vitro,the fresh leaf
decoction showed antibacterial and leptospiri-
cidal actions and hypoglycemic action as well.
It caused inhibition of rodent intestinal
muscles and stimulation of uteri at estrus. The
tender branches showed certain therapeutic
effect on patients with low lymphocyte trans-
formation rate and also can be used together
with other herbs to treat chronic brucellosis
and used as hair tonic. The 100% fruit-spike
decoction moderately induced lymphocyte trans-
formation. The root bark decoction, the aqueous
extract or n-butanol extract produced diuretic
effect in experimental animals and also dif-
ferent degrees of hypotensive effects by dif-
ferent administrations in normal animals or
those with hypotension.N-butanol extract showed
marked enhancing gastrointestinal motility
effect on experimented dogs and also excitatory
action on the isolated rabbit intestine and
uterus. It also showed sedative and tranquili-
zing effect, anticonvulsant effect, analgesic
effect, hypothermic effect and certain antibac-
terial effect as well.

| Actions and Indications: |
White Mulberry Root-
bark is used as antiasthmatic, antitussive,
diuretic;for the treatment of cough and asthma,
anasarca with oliguria, puffy face. Mulberry
Fruit is used to nourish the blood and promote
the production of body fluid; for the treatment
of vertigo and tinnitus, palpitation, premature
grey of hair and beard, diabetes,constipations.
Mulberry Leaf is used as antifebrile; for the
treatment of upper respiratory infection, dry
cough, dizziness, headache, blurred vision.
Mulberry Twig is used as antirheumatic;for the
treatment of aching and numbing of joints, par-
ticularly of shoulders and arms.
