The drug contains aesculetin, aesculin and fraxelin.
|
| Pharmacology Actions: |
1.The decoction of bark inhibits on Pseudomonas
aeruginosa,Staphylococcus areus, Flexner's baci-
llus, typhoid bacillus, diplococcus of Neisser,
Diplococcus pheumoniae, streptococcus A.
2.Its preparation is used as anti-tussive,ex-
pectorant and antiasthmatic.
3.Aesculin inhibits carrageenin,dextran,5-hy-
droxytryptophane, histamine orformaldehydear thritis.
4. Aesculin and aesculetin are used as antihema-
gglutinin to promote the circulation of blood
and inhibit the change of capillary permeability
caused by histamine.
5.Aesculin exerts significant diuretic effect
and increases the excretion of urate of rats and
rabbits.
6. Aesculin inhibits erythemaous reaction caused
by ultraviolet radiation.Its solution can absorb
ultraviolet light to protect skin from burn of
ultraviolet.

The drug is used to clear away liver-fire,im-
prove visual acuity, clear away heat and damp-
ness, for the treatment of conjunctivitis, dy-
sentery due to damp-heat pathogen, lung-heat
syndrome with cough.
