| Constituents: |
The stem contains emodin, physcion,daucosterol,
¦Â-sitostero1,stearic acid, salidroside,lirio-
dendrin.

| Pharmacology Actions: |
1. Tolerance to hypoxia effect: The aqueous ex-
tract-ethanol precipitate of the drug, abdominal
injection (2g/kg) on mice, showed significant
increase the tolerance to hypoxia in mice.
2. Effect on the heart: 0.5% aqueous extract-
ethanol precipitate liquor showed slight inhibi-
tory action on isolated toad heart, showed that
cardiac contractility weaken, heart rate slow,
heart output reduced.
3. Effect in myocardial infarction: water-soluble
extract, Intravenous injedction (100mg/kg) on
rabbits and dogs with myocardial infarction,could
cause raised ST section marked drop, explain that
could reduced myocardial hypoxia level of rabbits
and dogs with myocardial infarction,and could re-
duce myocardial infarction scope, improve myocar-
dial infarction-induced myocardial lactic acid
metabolic confusion.
4. Effect in coronary artery: 1% the aqueous
extract-ethanol precipitate,showed transient con-
tracted effect on coronary artery piece in pigs,
then appear lasting relax action. At potassium
chloride-induced contracted state, added the
drug's liquor, while it's former blood vessel
contractile action didn't appear and immediately
cause blood vessel relaxtion,proved the drug may
didn't show contract effect at contractile state.

the treatment of abdomen pain caused by menos-
tasis,rheumatic pains,swelling due to traumatic
