The drug contains triterpine
saponins including akebin A, B, C, D, E, F, G ,
etc. their glycogen is hederagenin. It also
contains saccharides, tannin, etc..

| Pharmacology Actions: |
Under strict control of
water intake, the rabbit was intragastrically
administered daily the tincture 0.5g/kg(free of
alcohol, diluted by water and filtered ) for 5
days. The results showed that the tincture had
very marked diuretic effect, while the ash did
not show any, suggesting the active diuretic
ingredient was not potassium salt, but rather
some other ingredient. The primary in vitro
studies showed that the aqueous extract or the
decoction exhibited different degrees of inhi-
bitory actions against many pathogens.
