The drug mainly contains gallotannin,resin,gallic acid and wax.

| Pharmacology Actions: |
1. Atringent effect: Gallotannin had precipita-
ted effect on protein and could coagulate the
protein of topical tissue in skin, mucous mem-
brane, ulcer surface, ect..
2. Rhus chinensis showed strong wide-spectrum antibacterial effect.
3. Gallic acid and its enzymes inhibited the constrictility action of brady kinin
on ileum of guinea pigs.

| Actions and Indications: |
The drug is used as antitussive, astringent,
hemostat. For the treatment of cough and
expectoration due to the pathogenic heat in
the lung,chronic diarrhea and dysentery,night
sweating,hematochezia,hemorrhoidal bleeding,
externally for traumatic bleeding, sores and
skin lesions with exudation.
