| Pharmacology Actions: |
The pharmacologicalexperiments indicated that its in jection increased the tolerance of animals to high temperature.Both in vivo and in vitro studies showed that this herb promoted the phagocytic function of the peritoneal macrophages in mice when used with Lycium chinensis. The aqueous infusion or ethanol infusion caused an increase of erythrocytes,decrease of leukocytes, relative increase of neutrophils and decrease of lymphocytes in rabbits. Its decoction markedly elevated the blood glucose level in rabbits by intragastric administration. Transient hypotension was produced by the aqueous and ethanol extracts of it by intravenous injection to anaesthetized dogs and rabbits. No Tachyphylaxis from repeated dosings was observed. Besides, the injection showed stimulant effects on isolated rat uteri.The LD50 of its injection in mice was 79.21¡À3.60g/kg IP.
