| Pharmacology Actions: |
Animal experiments proved that the total amino acids from the peel
had a good expectorant effect. The fruit peel
had weak cathartic action, while the fruit
kernel showed a cathartic action and the pow-
der's action was mild. The fruit injection pro-
tected rats against pituitrin-induced acute
myocardial ischemia and also significantly
increased the tolerance of mice to normobaric
and hypobaric hypoxia. The decoction or the
extract of the fruit at the concentration of
1:5-1:1 had inhibitory action against Escher-
chia coli and other gramnegative intestinal
pathogens in vitro. The 1:5 fruit decoction
killed ascitic carcinoma cells of mice in vitro
(slide method). The peel had a better antineo-
plastic affect than the kernel whose 60%
ethanol extract exhibited the strongest action.
