| Pharmacology Actions: |
The animal tests show
that the fresh root had heat-clearing and blood
cooling effect, while charcoaled one shortened
the bleeding time. The leaf containing nuci-
ferine like substance had antispasm action. The
leaf extract and decoction showed direct vaso-
dilatation action and moderate hypotensive
effect on experimental animals. Crystal
liensinine isolated from the dried plumule of
ripened seeds showed transient hypotensive
effect and strong and prolonged action when
changed into n-methyl-dendronbium while the
non-crystal alkaloid Nn-9 had stronger hypo-
tensive action with tachyphylaxis. The dried
lotus stamen showed antibac-terial effect.
