| Pharmacology Actions: |
The total flavone,
daidzin, puerarin, the decoction, or ethanol
extract antagonized acute myocardial ischemia
induced by pituitrin in rats. Intravenous
injection of the total flavones caused a sudden
drop in the blood pressure of most normotensive
anesthetized dogs which recovered in 4-8 minu-
tes, while caused a very brief elevation and
followed a fall in blood pressure lasting 15-18
minutes in unanesthetized dogs. ADP-induced rat
platelet aggregation was inhibited to different
extents by 0.25, 0.5 and 1.0 mg/ml of puerarin
in vitro. IV was also effective. In various
isolated tissues with ¦Â-adrenergic receptors,
the extract exhibited different degrees of
significant antagonism against the effect of
isoproterenol. Oral administration of the etha-
nol extract to rabbits produced a marked anti-
pyretic effect in rabbits with fever induced by
the typhoid vaccine, whereas the herb decoction
had negligible effect.
