Dyers Woad Leaf contains indiru-
bin, indigo, tryptanthrin; Dyers Woad Root con-
tains sinalbin, indoxyl-¦Â-glucoside, isatin,
¦Â-sitosterol, indigotin, insirubin, etc..

| Pharmacology Actions: |
preparation of the herb was proved in vitro and
in chicken embryo experiments to have a marked
inhibitory action against influenza virus
strains PR8 and Jingke68-1. The decoction or
aqueous extract of the herb had inhibitory
action against many pathogenic bacteria. Be-
sides, it was lethal against leptospirae in
vitro at 1:100.

Dyers Woad Leaf is used
as febrifuge, detoxicant; for the treatment of
high fever,skin eruptions in epidemic diseases,
jaundice, acute dysentery, mumps, inflammation
of the throat, erysipelas, carbuncle.Dyers Woad
Root is used as antifebrile, soothing sore
throat; for the treatment of eruptive epidemic
diseases with dark red or purplish tongue,
mumps, pharyngitis, laryngitis, scarlet fever,
erysipelas, carbuncle.
