mene, zingiberene, limonene, zederone,curcumol,
curdione. Thurmeric rhizome contains volatile
oils, such as ¦Á-pinene, ¦Â-pinene, camphene,
limonene, cineole, borneol,isoborneol, camphor,
caryophyllene, eugenol, arourcumene, curcumene,
curcumol, turmerone, etc..

| Pharmacology Actions: |
It showed cholagogic
action and increased the choleric secretion and
enhanced cholecyst contractility. It reduced
serum cholesterol and (-lipoprotein in rats and
rabbits with high blood lipids. Curcumin had
anti-inflammation effect. Its ethanol extract
showed inhibitory action on frog heart but had
hypotensive effect and respiratory excitation
action on dogs. It also showed anti-fertility
effect, antibacterial effect and anti-pregnancy
action.

| Actions and Indications: |
Turmeric is used as
bloodactivator, antirheumatic, analgesic; for
the treatment of pricking pain in the chest
and hypochondriac regions, amenorrhea, rheu-
matic pain, traumatic swelling and pain.
Turmeric Root-tuber is used as tranquilizor,
analgesic; for the treatment of distending or
pricking pain in the chest and abdomen, dys-
menorrhea mpairment of consciousness in feb-
rile diseases, epilepsy, mania. The rhizome is
used as stagnant blood dispelling agent,
digestion promotor, analgesic; for the treat-
ment of amenorrhea, distension and pain due to
stagnation of undigested food, traumatic in-
juries.
