| Constituents: |
Dried Ginger contains 1.2-2.8 percent of volatile
oil, mainly concluding zingiberol, zingeberene,
bisabolene, ¦Á-curcumene, ¦Á-, ¦Â-farnesene,
linalool, cineole; it also contains gingerol,
dihydroginerol, and kinds of amino acid. Fresh
Ginger contains 0.25-3.0 percent of volatile
oil, mainly concluding zingiberol,zingiberene,
phellandrene, camphene,citral;it also contains
gingerol,resin,starch and kinds of amino acid.

| Pharmacology Actions: |
1.The drug exerted irritative effect on oral
cavity and gastrointestinal membrane, promoted
the secretion of digestive juice.
2.The drug exhibited inhibitory action against
abnormal fermentation in digestive tract,promo-
ted the gas discharging.
3.The drug can elevate the blood pressure of
human. It showed excitatory effect on vasomotor
center and respiratory centers to the anesthe-
tized cats.
4.The drug exhibited excitatory action on cere-
bral cortex and showed anti-hypnotic effect.
5.Its extract could kill fungi and antitricho-
monal.

| Actions and Indications: |
Dried Ginger is used to dispel cold from the
spleen and stomach, promote recovery from colla-
pse, eliminate dampness and phlegm for the treat-
ment of epigastric pain with cold feeling, vomi-
ting and diarrhea accompanied by cold extremi-
ties and faint pulse, dyspnea and cough with co-
pious frothy expextoration. Fresh Ginger is used
to induce perspiration and dispel cold, warm the
stomach and arrest vomiting, resolve phlegm and
relieve sputum, for the treatment of common cold,
vomiting caused by cold in the stomach, cough
with expectoration of whitish thin sputum.
