The drug contains tenuigoside A,
and B, onsicin, tenuifolin, tenuidine, poly-
galitol, n-acetyl-d-glucosamine, 3,4,5-
trimethoxycinnamic acid, 6-hydroxy-1,2,3,7-
tetraethoxyxanthone, 1,2,3,6,7-pentamethoxyxan-
thone.

| Pharmacology Actions: |
The animal experiments
showed that the root bark had the expectorant
action. It also had sleep-promotion and anta-
gonizing convulsion actions in the animals.
Both in vitro and in situ experiments proved
that the fluidextract strengthened the con-
traction and increased the muscle tone of the
uteri of the animals.The 100% injection showed
transient yet marked hypotensive action. The
herb showed a strong hemolytic action in vitro
and the 10% herb decoction showed bacterio-
static action. The LD50 of the root bark in
mice was 10.03¡À1.98g/kg PO.
