donine, coptisine, dl-tetrahydrocoptisine, dehy-
drocorydaline,corydalmine, dehydrocorydalmine,
columbamine,d-glaucine,etc..

| Pharmacology Actions: |
1.Analgesic and sedative effects: d-corydaline,
dl-tetrahydropa-lmatine, protopine all showed
analgesic effect, and dl-tetrahydropalmatine
analgesic index is higher. Though analgesic
effect of dl-tetrahydro-palmatine is not as
good as morphine, but showed good sedative and
diazepam effects.
2.Eeffect on digestive system: dehydrocoryde-
line can protect the rats from experimental
gastric ulcer induced by hungry or injection
cortisone and reserpine,etc., reduce the secre-
tion of gastric juice,lower gastric acidity and
pepsin amount, after cut off nervus vagus still
had effect against the secretion of gastric
juice, it proved that dehydrocorydeline had not
block effect on parasympathetic nerves.
3.other effects: Intravenous injection on dl-
tetrahydropalmatine 40mg/kg in anesthetized cats
could cause blood pressure slight lower, heart
rate slow; intravenous injection of dl-tetrahy-
dropalmatine in rabbits cause respiratory inhi-
bition. The greater part of dl-tetrahydropalma-
tine in body was discharged through metabolism.
4.Toxicity: Either intragastric administration
85 or 110 mg/kg of dl-tetrahydropalmatine in
monkey one time or hypodermice injection 80mg/kg
didn't show significant toxicity, only showed
hypnotic and sedative appearance. Pathological
tests showed heart and kidney slightly turbid
swelling if it continued for two weeks.

| Actions and Indications: |
It is used to remove stasis by means of improving
blood circulation, dispels pain by means of smoo-
thing Qi. It is used for pains caused by blood
stasis and Qi stagnation, menostasis,menorrhagia,
mass formation in the abdomen,traumatic injuries,
hernia ,postpartum blood clots.
