| Pharmacology Actions: |
Injection of the ex-
tract 4g/kg SC to rabbits prevented and treated
hyperpyrexia due to E. coli and its action was
prolonged. The 100% decoction was shown to
inhibit many kinds of pathogenic organisms in
vitro.The aqueous extract could lower the blood
glucose level in normal rabbits. The action was
more marked in rabbits with alloxan-induced
diabetes mellitus.

The drug is used as
febrifuge, detoxicant, salivator; for the
treatment of febrile diseases with high fever
and thirst, dry cough, consumptive fever, dia-
betes due to internal heat, constipation.
