| Pharmacology Actions: |
The animal experiments
revealed that paeoniflorin had antispasm action
and antagonized the uterus constriction due to
oxytocin. Paeoniflorin had marked analgesic and
sedative effect. Its extract antagonized
strychnine-induced convulsion. Paeoniflorin had
anti-inflammation, anti-ulcer and antipyretic
effects. In vitro studies showed that its
injection had anti-blood coagulation action.

| Actions and Indications: |
White Peony Root is used
as hemopoietic, emmemagogue, analgesic; for the
treatment of headache and dizziness,pain in the
costal regions and abdomen, spasmodic pain of
the limbs, menstrual disorder, dysmenorrhea,
metrorrhagic, spontaneous sweating and night
sweating, etc.. Red Peony Root is used as blood
activator, antipyretic, analgesic; for the
treatment of hematemesis,epistaxis,inflammation
of the eye, pain in the chest and costal
regions, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, boils and
sores, traumatic injuries.
