acid, rehmanin, catalpol, alkaloids, etc..

| Pharmacology Actions: |
The 100% injection
could mitigate platelet damage by 600 rad
irradiation in rats and hasten the normaliza-
tion of platelet count. The decoction of the
herb protected mice against experimental toxic
hepatitis induced by carbon tetrachloride, thus
preventing the decrease of liver glycogen. The
alcohol extract exhibited hypoglycemic action
in rabbits. The yellow, needle-shaped crystal
obtained from the ethanol extract shortened the
coagulation time in rabbits. The extract also
had cardiotonic,renal vasodilatory and diuretic
actions. The decoction subsided fromaldehyde-
induced swelling of rat paws. In vitro studies
showed that the aqueous extract had inhibitory
action against the growth of many pathogenic
fungi.

Fresh Rehmannia Root
is used as febrifuge,salivator, blood purifying
agent, hemostatic; for the treatment of febrile
diseases with dark red tongue and thirst, skin
eruption and maculation,hematemesis, epistaxis,
hematuria, metrorrhagia,sore throat.
Unprepared Rehmannia Root is used as febrifuge,
blood purifying agent, salivator;for the treat-
ment of febrile diseases with dark red tongue
and thirst, consumptive fever, hematemesis,
epistaxis, skin eruption and maculation.
Prepared Rehmannia Root is used as hematic
tonic; for the treatment of aching and limpness
of the loins and knees, consumptive fever,night
sweating and seminal emission, diabetes caused
by internal heat, anemia, cardiac palpitation,
menstrual disorders, metrorrhagia, dizziness,
tinnitus, premature greying of beard and hair.
Dosage Fresh Rehmannia Root: 12-30 g.
