The drug contains scrophularin,
iridoids,harpogoside,and also has essential oils,
alkaloids.

| Pharmacology Actions: |
The root preparations
showed hypotensive action son experimental
animals. The extract exhibited sedative and
anticonvulsant actions, also weak hypoglycemic
action in rabbits by SC. Some tests proved that
the formula containing the said herb showed
very strong inhibitory and lethal effects
against diphtherial bacteria and a very potent
"neutralizing" effect on its toxin in vitro.The
extract also exhibited an inhibitory action
against some skin fungi in vitro.
