| Pharmacology Actions: |
The aqueous extract,
the ethanol-water extract, and the 30% ethanol
extract were shown to have hypotensive effect
in anesthetized animals. The 100% decoction
intragastrically to rats resulted in marked
decreases in blood triglycerides, ¦Â-lipopro-
tein and cholesterol. In vitro studies showed
that the aqueous extract exhibited antibac-
terial effect and antitubercular effect in gui-
nea pigs. Oral administration of its fluidex-
tract to rabbits gradually increased the blood
glucose level but decreased it later. The mag-
nitude and duration of the hyperglycemic effect
were directly proportional to the dosage
employed. It also markedly inhibited epine-
phrine-induced hyperglycemia.
